TERRY BLACK BBQ

This project involves transforming an existing building and adjacent property originally constructed in the 1950s into a destination-style restaurant for the very popular Terry Black’s BBQ franchise that already has locations in Austin, Dallas, and Lockhart.  The existing building will be expanded to approximately 10,000sf and include a seafood-themed restaurant called Opal’s Oyster Bar that will within the same building but accessible from a separate entrance along 8thStreet.

The main restaurant will continue the rustic/industrial look and feel of the other Terry Black’s locations but the Waco restaurant will still play off much of the existing buildings’ industrial elements from its former use as a plumbing supply warehouse.  Given that the property spans the width of a full City block, the BBQ restaurant will have a large outdoor space to encourage patio dining and allow patrons to get a “behind the scenes" view of the new stand-alone Pit House where all the BBQ meat will be cooked/smoked.

With its proximity to Magnolia and other tourist-themed establishments, Terry Black’s will provide Waco with much more than just another BBQ themed restaurant but rather a dining experience that should be viewed more as a destination than simply a place to stop and eat.
